CLASSICAR GARAGE NEWSLETTER 215, 19 JUNE 2026 |
Dear classic car enthusiast,
The special illustrations in our previous newsletter were very well received; thank you for the enthusiastic responses. You can find more of them on our social‑media channels.
With the holiday season beginning in our region, this is the perfect moment to enjoy long days, open roads and the pleasure of classic motoring. At ClassicarGarage we welcome nine newly arrived classic and sports cars, each with its own character and story. One German BMW M535i competes with a host of Italian cars, among which its true rival is the Alfa Romeo 75 3.0 V6 America. Two convertibles deserve special mention: the 1966 Lancia Flaminia Convertible and the 1969 Jaguar E‑type Roadster. Both wonderfully original and never‑restored survivors. Cars of this purity are increasingly rare.
I also bring you two restoration‑project updates at S2 Classic Cars, along with the proud announcement of a fully completed project: the 1966 Volkswagen Type 2 T1 Samba 21‑Window Deluxe, restored to absolute perfection after a multi‑year effort. Also on behalf of our garages, I wish you all a wonderful summer and many memorable miles of classic driving enjoyment. See you next month! With best regards,
Marc Vorgers

| VW T1 SAMBA 21-WINDOW DELUXE, 1966 COMPLETED RESTORATION | |
![]() |
This beautiful and rare 1966 Volkswagen Type 2 T1 Samba 21‑Window Deluxe was discovered in California by its Dutch owner. The project was offered for sale by a laid‑back surfer, and it was the owner’s daughters who unearthed the Samba from its sandy resting place. They had to remove countless buckets of sand before the vehicle could finally be freed. The plastic hula girl that once adorned the dashboard was given pride of place in the family home and will, in due course, return to its rightful spot. After the Samba bus arrived in the Netherlands, a complete restoration began, with every component restored and/or renewed. One could say that this project laid the foundations for the company S2 Classic Cars: the restoration started before the firm was officially established and has only recently been completed. This Volkswagen T1 Samba 21‑Window Deluxe Microbus has been restored to the highest possible standard, with its appearance returned to original factory specification. Mechanically, the vehicle has been subtly upgraded to cope with modern traffic and to handle the increased engine output of around 90 bhp (up from the original 30 bhp). No time, cost or effort was spared in the pursuit of perfection.
